[Milliways]: Bringing Sameth to Sheffield

Posner is by no means proud of his hometown. He thinks coming from Sheffield is something of a mark of shame. But he figured that it had to be better for Sameth than being stuck in the bar all the time (even if he was of the opinion that Milliways was about a hundred times more interesting than Sheffield.

His door does occasionally show up somewhere odd like the loo next to Mrs. Lintott's room or exit from the changing room, but for the most part it tends to open in his closet, and that's where it is today.

He's already apologizing as he leads Sam through. "It's just a school day. I don't think it'll be much fun for you..."

Bar provided Sam with his old Somersby uniform and he's adjusting the tie as he walks through,

"I haven't been to school in ages, it'll be fine. Thank you for this."

"If you're sure." He smiles at Sam, pleased to be able to help his friend out.

"My mum's visiting my aunt this week, and I don't think my uncle's up yet, so we should be all right to leave without too many questions." He moves to his desk, packing up his bookbag.

"I am,"

Sam starts looking around, fidgeting slightly with his sleeves and the badge, it feels odd to be wearing this and not be in Ancelstierre.

Posner smiles and slings his bag over his shoulder, pointing to Sam's badge. "They'll think you're right posh with that. They may take the piss."

"It'll be just like Somersby but there it was for being a prince,"

Other than the badge, his uniform's almost the same as Posner's.

"Either way, I apologize in advance for anything they say," Posner says, leading the way out of his room.

[makesthings]

"Don't worry about it. I survived all those years, I'll be fine,"

Honestly after the looks he gets at Belisaere, this will be nice.

Posner laughs quietly, heading down the stairs.

"Do you know how to ride a bike?" he asks, not sure if they even have them in Sam's world.

"Yes, but I haven't in a while,"

He rode one a few times in Ancelstierre but he's far more comfortable with horses.

"We can walk if you'd rather," Posner says, cutting through the kitchen and out the back door. "But we'd have to leg it."

"I'll be fine, don't want to be late,"

Its just a bicycle, he can manage one of those.

Posner nods, smiling, opening the door to the shed. "Good. You can use my dad's. It's a bit old, but it works just fine."

Sam nods and peers into the shed, he's curious to see what's in here since sheds tend to have interesting unfinished projects.

This one mostly has bits and tools for gardening and two bikes leaned up against each other. Posner wheels them both out, offering the older one to Sam.

He takes it and gives it a quick check over, starting to reach for the Charter and stops himself, it won't be here,

"This should be fine."

[smallgayjew]

Posner nods as he closes the shed, wheeling his bike around the front. "Dad keeps it in pretty good order, though he doesn't use it much anymore."

"Right, so which way are we going?"

It all seems to be working and Sam follows Posner, trying to get a sense of what Sheffield's like.

[smallgayjew]

"Just down the road a way. It's about a mile to school."

The area they're in at the moment is mostly residential, neat rows of houses, lower middle class.

"Not too bad. How long do we have?"

Its sort of like parts of Ancelstierre but different enough that Sam keeps looking around.

"It's twenty minutes until my first class, and I'll have to stop at my locker first."

[makesthings]

"Then I guess we should get going. What do you have first?"

He settles on the bike and grins, its nice to see a sky that isn't Milliways.

[smallgayjew]

"It's Mrs. Lintott to start. So straight history," Posner says, mounting his bike and starting down the street.

He smiles to see Sam enjoying himself.

Sam follows and only wobbles slightly,

"I'll try and look like I know what's going on."

[smallgayjew]

"You'll be fine," Posner assures him, laughing quietly.

[makesthings]

He doesn't answer as he gets used to riding a bike again while looking around.
