On the green (for Wylie)
In their last year at Oxford, as their exams once again start to creep up on them, the Cutlers' boys have had to make more of an effort to stay in touch.
Well, most of them. David hasn't spoken to Dakin since running into him at a Sainsbury's back in Sheffield over the summer. Scripps and Akthar, though, he still keeps in touch with. (And they all still seem to fall back on surnames when they're together. David becomes Posner again, or Pos. Scripps and Akthar are Scripps and Akthar rather than Don or Adil.)
But they do make the effort, which is the important part. Today, they've been out doing their holiday shopping. Or Scripps is doing his holiday shopping. David and Akthar are going along for the ride. David does look a bit for Hanukkah presents for his parents and his uncle, but he's finished most of his shopping for them already.
When they've finished, they stop by a coffee shop for drinks and then David suggests a walk by the river, which is how they end up in the park, not exactly feeding the ducks, but occasionally throwing them bits of scone or muffin.

It was how he ended up wandering in a park. He was half inclined to poke at homeless people or throw things at the university students that seemed to be every-fucking-where, but it was when he noticed a particularly familiar face that he started on a very sure path.
He'd yet seen David out of their private meetings... hook-ups... whatever. He wasn't exactly sure what they were, but he was fond of him, which irked Wylie to no end. He really didn't need to get himself caught up in this... at all, but, d'aw, aint' he adorable with his little uni buddies. No use in formalities.
"Hey, David," he called to him. Wylie probably looked like he was out of place. Skinny jeans, a pair of worn out black Chuck Taylors, leather jacket over a t-shirt, his hair a wavy mess on his head.

"Wylie," he managed after a moment. "Hello." Not knowing exactly what the state of their relationship was, he wasn't sure how to greet him.
Not to mention he had no idea how to act around Scripps and Akthar in this situation. It wasn't as if they didn't know he was gay--Scripps had known before he did--but neither of them had ever seen him with someone he was seeing.
(He did think, for a moment, about how different Wylie was from the three of them. Scripps in his cozy sweater and jeans, Akthar bundled up in a peacoat, David in his tweed jacket and corderoys.)

"What's goin' on, boys?" he asked, mostly directing the question to David, but glancing at the other two. He almost immediately ignored them again though and reached up to rub the collar of David's coat between his fingers. "Cute..."
no subject
"Er...Scripps, Akthar," he said, allowing Wylie's arm to stay around him but not entirely leaning into the touch, "this is my...um...this is Wylie. Wylie this is Scripps and Akthar. We were at school together."
Akthar smiled and nods in greeting, and Scripps offered his hand, saying, "Nice to meet you. Friend of Pos's?" If either of them seemed a bit on the protective side...well, they probably were. David had always been the youngest and smallest of the boys at school, and they all sort of took him under their wing.

And it didn't go by him that David was uncomfortable, but that wasn't about to stop him from staying where he was. If he pulled away, yeah, he'd let him go, but Wylie was very firmly placing his stake on the smaller and younger man. He was being damn forward about it, too. "Wouldn't say friend exactly, but we'll start there," he grinned that devious smile.
no subject
"We met...a few weeks ago," David said, finally leaning against Wylie a little, hoping the others would take it as a sign that he didn't need to be protected from Wylie.
Scripps gave a little half-smirking smile and said, "'We have been friends together,
In sunshine and in shade.'"
no subject
"Good to know," he said honestly. It wasn't like Wylie wanted to step in on some friendship. After all, he currently didn't know how long he'd be here, but he'd already extended his stay since he met David. Ah, how the road called to him still.
"So..." he smiled, charming as he could be, "Mind if I borrow him for the rest of the day?"
no subject
Scripps looked to David for confirmation, and finding nothing to alarm him there, he nodded, smiling. "I reckon we can give him up for a while."
"Just have him back before midnight," Akthar added with a smirk. "Don't want him turning into a pumpkin just at the end of term."
"Fuck off," David says with a smile, moving to pick up his bag.
no subject
"I'll get him back before midnight... just not midnight tonight," and then the charming grin he was known for. "C'mon, let's leave your jealous friends to seethe." He didn't mean it of course, but he was sure as hell going to laugh about it later when David turned bright pink over the matter.
no subject
And he did turn bright pink. "Right, I'll...er...see you later?"
The other boys nodded and waved him off, Akthar seemingly unconcerned, Scripps watching them thoughtfully as they left.
no subject
"Embarassed you?" he asked, leaning over to kiss the side of his head.
no subject
"You didn't embarrass me," he said. He didn't want Wylie thinking he was ashamed to be seen with him. And he wasn't. He just felt...odd about the whole situation.
Ah, I thought I'd replied. Sorry!
He waited a second and then gently kissed his head, "You can't talk to me, ya know."
pff
Re: pff
fixed!
He nods a bit. "I know I can."
Sorry about that. XP
Heh. I've totally done that before.
He isn't sure he wants to know, but he absolutely has to ask.
