No business like show business (for Blaine)

David is finding a rhythm with his lectures and his readings and his essays. He thinks. So he decides it would be safe enough to get involved in some sort of society. Scripps has been asking him about what he does outside of school, and he wants to have an answer other than, "Revising."

There's a theatrical society at Magdalen, and they're having a recruitment meeting for anyone interested in joining. He'd thought about trying to get Akthar to come with, but then he decided that Blaine would be better for that, so he asked the other boy to join him. And now he's knocking on Blaine's door to see if he's ready to head out to the meeting.

Blaine had been planning to try for the society anyway, but the idea of going with David and supporting the other boy and having him there as well seemed even better.

His hair was perfectly maintained as he answered the door and smiled at David. "Hi. Right on time."

David is getting used to the perfection of Blaine's hair, though it still amuses him a bit. His own is getting longer than he usually likes, but his mum has always cut it for him, so he isn't quite sure what to do about that and it just keeps getting longer.

"I didn't want to miss anything important," he says with a smile.

"Well let's get going," Blaine answers as he moves to close his room's door before heading out.

David nods and starts to head down the stairs. "Are you nervous?"

"A bit. You?"

"Yeah, a bit as well," David admits, nodding. "I mean...I've done school plays before, but this seems so much more...real."

He nods. "Me too. Let's see what we can do though."

David nods as well. "My mum reckons it'll be a good way to meet people."

"It will, and it will be wonderful to be on stage again..." Whenever that might be.

"Yes, it will rather. It's been quite a while since I have been."

"I was on stage during our graduation ceremony, but I guess you don't have them here?"

"No, we don't. Though I suppose I was on stage at Hector's memorial. I'd not thought of that."

Blaine briefly reaches out and touches David's arm. "That's not really the same."

"No, it really isn't," David says softly, smiling a bit at Blaine's gesture.

Blaine moves closer and walks with him as they get to the meeting.

The meeting is held in one of the smaller, college lecture halls, and there are already a few people there when they arrive. "Where shall we sit?"

Blaine shrugs but takes a seat where they can watch everything.

David takes the seat next to his and pulls out a small notebook and a pencil so he can take notes on any important information.

Blaine takes out his own supplies and smiles encouragingly towards David.

The meeting was a fairly standard affair. The student leaders got up to explain the group and what shows they were planning for the year. They sent around a sign-up sheet for their newsletter and another for the upcoming auditions for the first show. David puts his name on both of them.

Blaine does as well, writing carefully before passing it on. He also puts down important dates into his notebook.

David takes copious notes, and when the meeting is finished, he smiles over at Blaine.

"What d'you reckon?"

"I think it sounds wonderful," he says honestly. He smiles over at David as he puts his things back into his bag.
